Introduction

Our i815EP-Board-'A-Thon continues today. This time, it's Transcend's TS-ASP3 that we'll be taking a look at. Traditionally, Transcend has always marketed boards that are feature-rich, and comfortably stable. The TS-ASP3 hopes to continue this tradition, and sports many of the features users have come to know and love - such as PC133 memory, ATA100 drive-support, and an integrated sound-card. With all that in mind, let's say we take a closer look.

Configuration

Most of the TS-ASP3's configuration process is accomplished from within the BIOS, as there are only two on-board jumpers that relate to the CPU. The first, labeled JP4, can be used to force the FSB to 66MHz, 100MHz, or 133MHz, while JP28 can be used to alter the Vio voltage.

Within the BIOS, the "Frequency/Voltage Control" menu allows the FSB to be set to a frequency ranging from 66MHz to 166MHz in 1MHz steps.

The clock multiplier can also be set to a value ranging from 3X to 8X - something that's only of practical to those possessing an unlocked CPU, of course.

The Vcore voltage can also be changed, as indicated by the table above.

Finally, within the "Advanced Chipset Features" menu, there lies a feature allowing the memory bus frequency to be set to 100MHz, 133MHz, or to be determined automatically by the system.

A number of memory timing options are also present within the same menu.
