Additional features (continued)

Additional features of the Abit KA7, include: Wake on LAN, Wake on Modem Ring, PS/2 connectors, 4 USB ports - with two located on the rear panel, 2 SMbus connectors, RX/TX connectors for infrared connectivity, and start-up from the keyboard/mouse/or at a pre-set time. Hardware monitoring of fan speeds (upto 4 fans), and of the CPU's temperature is also available as a standard feature on this PC99-compliant motherboard. Note that a connector for the thermal sensor (which is also included) is also supplied with the KA7. Finally, the KA7 allows for manual assignment of IRQs.

Installation

Installation of the KA7 is child's play. Outside of a bloc of Dip switches which you may assure are positioned properly for 100MHz, there's not much to say. Once a frequency of 100MHz has been selected, there remains only to install the board, plug everything in, and make a quick run through the BIOS to finalize any adjustments you may want to make.



The software bundle

The KA7's installation CD contains a few bits & pieces, including 4-in-1 patches from Via, High Point X Store Pro, a hardware monitoring utility from Via, Adobe Acrobat Reader, a CD version of the manual, and a screen saver.
