Sisoft SANDRA is a comprehensive system diagnostic, benchmarking and testing utility designed with tweakers and hard core users in mind. Taking a cue from Norton Utilities and Quarterdeck Winprobe, Sisoft SANDRA goes on step further with over 50 modules providing detailed low-level information about every major subsystem on your PC, including, CPU, BIOS, PCI and AGP Buses, video, Direct X, sound card MCI devices, COS and Windows subsystem, Winsock drives, ports, I/O and IRQ conflicts, and a lot more.

SANDRA also provides performance enhancing tips along with benchmarks for your CPU, CPU multimedia (3D Now!, SSE, MMX), CD/ROM, memory, etc.

Benchmarking Modules

These Modules let's you see how your PC stacks up to other typical combinations. For example, SiSoft SANDRA's memory will test your memory sub-system and compare it to others with the same or similar memory in other systems. Test caches as well. SiSoft SANDRA's test are based on the STREAM memory bandwidth benchmark.

Tests how your CPU stacks up to other typical combinations:

  • Multi-Processor support for up to 32 CPUs.
  • Test takes about 12 seconds on P6-class PCs.
  • Test is repeated 3 to 5 times to get a realistic result.
  • Results outside the confidence limits (5%) are discarded.
Memory
Tests how your memory sub-system compares to other systems with the same or similar memory in other systems. Tests caches as well. The benchmark is based on the well-known STREAM memory bandwidth benchmark.
    Multi-Processor support for up to 32 CPUs
    Arithmetic Operations Benchmark (assignment, scaling, addition, triad)
    Floating-point Operations Benchmark (assignment, scaling, addition, triad)
    Test needs at least 50% of free physical memory free.
    Close all programs before running it especially if you have less than 16MB.
    Test takes about 2 minutes on P6-class machines with 64MB.

I/O and IRQ Settings

Few things can be more frustrating than trying to eliminate IRQ and I/O conflicts. Sandra helps simplify the task by displaying the names of the devices that are assigned to each and every IRQ and I/O address.
